Black Box Theater Rentals
Our black box has been updated with a whole new look! (It is actually BLACK)! We are so grateful for the County’s support and continued investment in the arts! We have recently replaced the seating and added brand new, industry standard, Wenger risers. The dressing rooms have also been updated with granite counters and stainless steel restroom partitions. These additions make it possible for The Art place to continue to host over 30 productions annually ranging from recitals to 2 week productions. Our theater can comfortably seat between 100-140 guests, and back of house accommodates casts and crews of up to 50 people.

Theater Rentals:
$150 refundable damage deposit
$150 per day for move-in, rehearsals, strike and any other days the theater is booked for your group
$180 per performance day with a 2 show max per day
Once a contract is received, 50% of the rental will be collected. The remaining 50% will be due no later than 30 days before move-in. All fees must be paid in full before use of the facility. Failure to pay the full balance will result in a cancellation of your booking.
Recitals:
$150 refundable damage deposit
$30 an hour with a 4 hour minimum/maximum
Once a contract is received, the full deposit and rental fee will be collected.
To be eligible for the recital rate, the event must be free and open to the public and only a 4 hour maximum rental for piano, dance or vocal recitals.
Out of County Fee:
This fee is to be charged to any individual or group that resides or is based outside of Cobb County. The fee is an additional 50% and is paid per contract.
Tech Fee:
Rental fee includes house lights. If a rental requires a light technician, they will be booked by The Art Place Coordinator. Only Art Place approved techs are allowed to operate the light board. The fee to the renter is $30 an hour with a 4 hour minimum, each day they are booked. This balance will be due the last day of the rental and is paid directly to the county through the center coordinator. Any delay in payments may result in the loss of renter’s deposit.
Custodial Fee:
A custodial fee will be assessed, as needed, at the close performance run or event. To avoid this fee, the facility must be left in the condition it was found. This includes sweeping, mopping and cleaning the dressing rooms and sweeping the theatre. Any items left in the dressing rooms or theatre after move out will be discarded after 5 days.

Rental requests will only be accepted through email via the rental request form below so requests are time-stamped and allow for a first-come first-serve review. This is to prevent preferential treatment of any kind. You may download the rental request form below.
Only one application per date/date block request is allowed. Please be sure to send one application for each reservation request.
Applicable to all 2026 theater reservations: all County Theaters (Jennie T. Anderson Theater, Sewell Mill Cultural Center’s Black Box, and The Art Place’s Black Box) will be charging a fee for every day the theater is occupied with renter belongings (i.e. sets, props, etc.), whether renters are physically present or not.
Payment is not due until your request has been approved. A reminder the application is a request and not a guaranteed reservation. Once your rental request is approved, the rental deposit is due immediately with all remaining rental fees due 30 days prior to your event.
A $150.00 deposit is required to reserve a facility with the Cobb County PARKS Department. Cancellation requests must be made in writing 30 days in advance of the event to receive a full refund of the deposit plus any rental fees that have already been paid. Cancellations less than 30 days in advance of the event will receive a refund of all rental fees, however, the $150 deposit will be retained.
The Art Place and County blackout dates are included on the last page of the application and are available to view below. Blackout dates include county holidays, facility closures, and internal programming.
